THE HIDDEN GALAXY IC342
abrickhouse

This is an interesting galaxy. You are looking through the Milky Way Galaxy to see this and its about 7-11 Million light years from us. Why its called the Hidden Galaxy is because its difficult to see with a eyepiece due to all the dust.

Its is about 75,000 light years in diameter and is smaller than M31 but if the dust was not there the experts say you could see this with your naked eye.

This was imaged on Jan 10 2024 with 20 stacked 5 minute exposures from the QHY 168C color camera using an Astro Tech 102mm ED refractor.
