Hey Timothy,

Looks like you not only got out several days to image the comet, but you also went to several locations.  You managed to capture some very good shots of various views.  I'd like to use a couple of these for my comet article in the Dec. newsletter.

Tim,

Absolutely amazing! I went out on two different nights and couldn't locate it. It looked like distant clouds far to the west may have been blocking my view. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Those are great images.

I took advantage of the clear skies 2 weeks ago and captured the comet from a couple different locations. All the details for each file are listed below.


File 1

Location: PJMO observing field 10-14-2024

Equipment: Nikon D7500, Rokinon 16mm F/2, tripod

Settings: ISO200 F/2 10s

Light frames: 1x10s single frame

Calibration frames: 25x each flats and dark flats, 15x darks

Processing: Deep Sky Stacker, GIMP


File 2

Location: Community Center Rd between Belton and Moody 10-15-2024

All other details same as previous


File 3

Light frames: 100x10s, 1s pause between each frame

Calibration/Processing: none

All other details same as previous


File 4

Location: Leona Park in Temple 10-20-2024

Equipment: iOptron CEM60, Explore Scientific ED102, QHY294C, Optolong 2" L-Pro filter, Starshoot autoguider with 50mm guide scope

Light frames: 1x60s single frame

Calibration frames: 25x each darks, flats, dark flats

Processing: Deep Sky Stacker, GIMP


File 5

Light frames: 31x60s

All other details same as previous

If you look closely you'll see each line of stars has 2 gaps. The first gap is a frame I had to throw out of the stack because of a really obnoxious satellite trail, and the second gap is when I had to pause and re-center the comet because it had moved.
